Transforming South Africa: From Learnership to Leadership

If South Africa is going to compete in an increasingly global economy, we need to take the requisite steps to transform our nation into one that is aligned to the goals of The South African Project: creating a better life for everyone who lives here.

Lanham-Love Consulting, a 73.57% Black Owned Level 2 BEE Exempt Micro Enterprise that specialises in ensuring that a client’s transformation strategy must align with their overarching business strategy, believes that these steps need to be happening across the board.

“We need to be transforming South Africa from a grassroots level all the way through to the upper echelons of businesses and institutions,” says Angie Lanham-Love, CEO of Lanham-Love Consulting. “A big part of that is, we feel, implementing a transformation strategy that has the buy in of all involved. And a large part of getting that buy in is dependent upon everyone, from the bottom to the top, benefitting from the results of transformation.”

“The question, of course, is how do we actually make this happen,” says Lanham-Love. “At Lanham-Love Consulting, we often deal with clients who initially see Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment as a must do, rather than an investment in their company. After we take them through our process of finding the ‘Best Fit Model’ in terms of what B-BBEE strategy they should implement, however, this changes drastically. They begin to see B-BBEE as what it should be – a direct investment in the future and longevity of their business.”

One of the ways in which Lanham-Love Consulting is contributing to the transformation of South Africa is through their commitment to the Skills Compliance aspect of the B-BBEE scorecard. “A very big part of our focus, implemented through our sister company The LLC Academy, which designs and implements Skills Development programmes directly in line with your B-BBEE strategy, is on making B-BBEE actually transformative,” says Lanham-Love.

“This involves upskilling your staff with more than just the skills required to do their jobs more effectively and efficiently, though we do that, too,” says Lanham-Love. “It also involves developing them into leaders. Leaders for the future of your business – and the future of South Africa.”

“By focusing on creating a nation of leaders – people who are empowered to take charge in their own, personal lives, in the communities in which they stay, the institutions and businesses in which they work, and in the country in which they live, we are helping to develop a nation of people who are empowered to make life better for themselves,” says Lanham-Love.

“By implementing strategies that will allow every single one of us to participate and contribute to the economy,” says Lanham-Love, “we are ensuring the actual, enduring transformation of South Africa into the world class nation we know it can be.”

If you are as passionate about transformation as we are, recognise the need for South Africa to compete on a global scale, or even just want some help getting your business’s transformation strategy going, Lanham-Love Consulting can help! Speak to us about your strategic B-BBEE needs.
